Mexican soccer legend Carlos Salcido to take photos and give autographs at Sept. 30 Forward Madison match

Fans of Mexican soccer are in luck as Forward Madison FC announced on Wednesday an opportunity to meet and greet former Mexican professional soccer player Carlos Salcido at the Sept. 30 Flamingos game against Lexington SC.

The Mexican soccer legend began his soccer career with Guadalajara in Mexico before moving on to the PSV Eindhoven squad in the Netherlands where he gained fans in the UEFA Champions League. Salcido made more fans playing for Mexico in the FIFA World Cup and after giving a good performance at the 2010 event, made a transfer to Fulham in England.

Salcido’s first assist at Fulham was scored by Clint Dempsey, a renowned American soccer player. He would eventually return to Mexico to play for the Tigres UANL, Guadalajara, and eventually end his career with Veracruz.

On Saturday, Sept. 30, Salcido will be meeting with MG&E’s Día de Fútbol camp participants at 3 p.m. and will be at Breese Stevens Field from 4-4:50 p.m. to take photos and give autographs. Pictures and autographs will be complimentary on a first-come-first-served basis for fans inside the venue.
