The body of Frank Ancona, 51, was found with a gunshot wound to the head on Saturday along a riverbank in Missouri after he was reported missing early Friday, according to multiple media reports.
Ancona was an Imperial Wizard of the Traditionalist American Knights near St. Louis, a local chapter of the Ku Klux Klan.
Ancona’s wife, Malissa, told authorities that he had told her he wanted a divorce, and that she last saw him when he got a call about an out-of-state delivery for his job on Wednesday. Authorities have found no evidence of such a call. His vehicle was found on Federal Forest Service land on Thursday and his employer reported him missing on Friday.
A safe inside Ancona’s home had reportedly been pried open, possibly with a crowbar. Although its contents had been emptied, the Daily Journal reported that Leadwood Police Chief William Dickey said authorities don’t believe a burglar had broken into it.
The investigation remains ongoing.
