The number hospitalized with COVID-19 on Tuesday jumped to 574, the most the pandemic began and the fourth consecutive day over 500. Today’s total is 15 more than Friday and 212 more than a week ago — meaning the population of those hospitalized with COVID-19 has increased by 59 percent in one week. Of those, 161 were in ICUs, 14 more than Thursday.

While much of the growth in new cases continues to be driven by infections in younger people, the trend is shifting.
