Hasel Afshar, who is originally from Iran, returned from a three-day vacation in Canada to find his home in Troutdale, Ore. extensively damaged, ransacked, and covered with racist graffiti. Every room in the house was damaged.

The vandals went as far as to leave a threatening note on Afshar’s coffee table that was weighed down with seven .45 caliber bullets that were placed in the shape of a cross.

“If I see you here next month, I will shoot you and burn your house,” the note reportedly reads.

Hate-filled messages were spray painted on surfaces in every room of the house, including the on TV, refrigerator, and toilet. Afshar’s furniture was slashed, his cupboards were broken and death threats were left behind. The graffiti included anti-Muslim messages and a note threatening the man’s life weighed down with bullets arranged in the shape of a cross.

According to local news site the Gresham Outlook, the graffiti called Afshar a “terrorist,” and a “Muslim” and tells him to “Get out of America.”

“I’m not Muslim,” Afshar told the news site. “I just grow a beard.”

Asfar, who is Baha’i, is a refugee from Iran who has lived in America since 2010. Neighbors and the community have been very supportive of him since this traumatic incident.
