Overture Center’s “Arts Career Exploration Spotlight” for students is back this summer

The Arts Career Exploration Spotlight (ACES) is back for this summer at the Overture Center of the Arts, after being discontinued during the pandemic, for two summer sessions: June 10-28 and July 8-25, with an end-of-summer celebration for all participants on Friday, July 26.

Launched in 2019, ACES empowers Madison-area middle and high-school students of color to explore local arts organizations and career possibilities through hands-on experiences.

“It is a true honor to join the Equity & Innovation team at Overture and help bring this program back. It is bringing a personal dream of mine to fruition,” said Allison Ward, Overture’s new equity and innovation program manager, who oversees the program, in a statement. “Growing up, I always saw myself as a performer but never knew the full breath of the opportunities provided by the arts. I was lucky to have a supportive family that helped me explore options and resources, and I’ve wanted to be part of that journey for students like me who want to see themselves in arts careers, too.”

Middle school students who have completed sixth grade through recent high school seniors are welcome to apply. Students who complete the entire three-week program receive a stipend.
