The Madison365 girls 14u basketball team dominated the 15u bracket at the Midwest Madness tournament in New Berlin over the weekend, going 4-0 and winning by a combined score of 204 – 109, an average margin of victory of nearly 24 points.
The team made a statement in its first game Saturday, beating Heart Over Hype 58-11. They followed up with a 59-37 win over Club 52 and beat UDA Elite 44-38 in the nightcap.
They kept it rolling Sunday, completing the undefeated weekend with a 43-23 win over Forward Thinking Basketball.
“I noticed in the week leading up to tourament that we had something special on our hands,” said Head Coach Melvin Gates. “Going into playing older competition, the girls were pushing one another in our competition drills, trying to make each other better, teammates being supportive, talking on defense, diving on the floor. I think when you have a team coming together like that especially before game weekend, you just know it’s going to a great week and they came out champions finishing 4-0 in our pool.”
The team next heads to Milwaukee this weekend for the US Junior Nationals.
