Positive test rate remains steady at 11.5%, eight more die

Wisconsin’s positive test rate remained steady Wednesday, rising just slightly from 11 to 11.5 percent as about 12,200 tests yielded 1,408 positive results. Those results bring the total case count to 92,712, of which just over 10,500 are considered active.

Today is the 12th day of the past 13 that the positive test rate has been over 10 percent.

Wisconsin’s positive test rate for the past seven days is now 15.08 percent, and the 14-day rate is up to 14.15 percent. Today’s data brings the seven-day average of new cases to 1,340 and the 14-day average to 1,261.

Eight new fatalities were reported today — one each in Ashland, Brown, Dodge, Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Sheboygan, Walworth and Waupaca Counties — bringing the total death toll to 1,228.

Wisconsin has averaged 6.43 deaths per day over the past week and 6.3 per day over the past two weeks.

The highest local new case count came in Milwaukee County, with 163 new cases and 8.38 percent positive tests. Close behind was Brown County with 160 new cases and 22.22 percent positive tests.

Kenosha County: 17 new cases, 7.83 percent positive tests
Kewaunee County: 18 new cases, 37.5 percent positive tests
La Crosse County: 122 new cases, 12.45 percent positive tests
Marathon County: 20 new cases, 9.09 percent positive tests
Milwaukee County: 94 new cases, 11.11 percent positive tests
Outagamie County: 88 new cases, 20.52 percent positive tests
Ozaukee County: 12 new cases, 80 percent positive tests

Hospitalization data for Wednesday had not been posted at the time of publication. The number hospitalized on Tuesday rose to 343 hospitalized with COVID 19, two more than Monday and 46 more than a week ago. Of those, 95 were in ICUs, three fewer than Sunday.
