Update: Badger Assistant Coach Howard Moore in Stable Condition After Losing Wife, Daughter in Wrong-Way Crash

Wisconsin men’s basketball assistant coach Howard Moore is in stable condition in a Michigan hospital intensive care unit and his 13-year-old son Jerrell is “up and walking around,” according to a statement from the university.

Moore reportedly received serious burns in the crash, which killed his wife Jennifer, 46, and 9-year-old daughter Jaidyn.

Authorities have identified 23-year-old Samantha Winchester as the driver of the vehicle going the wrong way on M-14 near Ann Arbor. Winchester was pronounced dead at the scene. Toxicology reports are pending, authorities said.

Wisconsin men’s basketball assistant coach Howard Moore’s wife and daughter were killed in a car accident early Saturday morning in Michigan, the Big Ten Network reported.

According to the report, Moore’s wife, Jennifer, and daughter were killed in a wrong-way crash. Moore and his son were also in the vehicle, but both survived.

Athletes from across the nation offered their sympathies to Moore in light of the news.

Howard Moore played for the Wisconsin Badgers in the 1990s and was an assistant coach under Bo Ryan before becoming head coach at University of Illinois – Chicago and then an analyst for Big Ten Network. He returned to Wisconsin in 2015 when Greg Gard took over midseason for Ryan.
