Retired LA Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant was killed in a helicopter crash Sunday morning, TMZ reports. He was 41.
Bryant was one of five people on his private helicopter, and none survived, according to reports. Bryant’s second-oldest daughter, Gianna “Gigi” Bryant, was also killed in the accident. She was 13 years old.
Bryant was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers straight out of high school and spent his entire 20-year career with the team. Bryant won five NBA championships, two gold medals and finished his career as an 18-time All-Star, 15-time All-NBA team, 12-time All-NBA Defensive Team selection, two time NBA Finals MVP and the 2008 NBA MVP.
Bryant was back in the NBA spotlight last night when current Lakers forward LeBron James surpassed him for third place on the NBA’s all-time scoring list.
