The Social Change Forum is returning after a five-year absence on Thursday, March 6, 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Overture Center of Arts.
The theme for this year’s event will be “Trust and Surrender” and will be examined through a lens of “The Five Building Blocks of Collaboration,” according to a press release announcing the event. Those building blocks include self-awareness, transformational leadership, conflict resolution, facilitation, and friendliness to collaborate.
“The intention is for participants not only to find deeper trust in their skills and talents but also surrender to what is being created for them in the process and knowing that they are ready for whatever is to come. The day will be designed to surprise, elevate, and induce joy,” event organizers said in a press release.
Attendees will be offered a lunch from Short Stack Eatery before they close down and a happy hour reception will follow to continue connecting and celebrating. The Social Change Forum is anticipating over 100 local community members to share a day of connecting, creation, and visioning for the future.
The morning speaker for the Social Change Forum will be Ronda Davis from the University of Wisconsin Literacy Link. Ananda De Oliveira Mirilli, co-founder of Nina Collective Cooperative, will provide the afternoon keynote address. The two of them are joined by additional terrific facilitators and speakers including Monica Mims, Gregg Potter, Alder Dina Nina Martinez-Rutherford, Veronica Figueroa Velez, Mathias Lemos Castillo, LaCuoir Yancey, and Mary Beth Collins.
This event is sponsored by My VA Rocks, Community Shares of WI, and CORE. For more information, a full list of speakers, and to reserve seats, click here.
