The state of Wisconsin reported just under 8,000 new coronavirus tests on Thursday, of which 1,802 were positive, for a positive test rate of about 22,6 percent. The seven-day average of new cases per day has fallen to 1,464.
The state of Wisconsin also reported 24 COVID deaths on Wednesday, bringing the total death toll to 5,811. Since March, an additional 190 people have tested positive for COVID but died of other causes. The seven-day average of reported deaths slipped to 29.14.
The seven-day positive rate for all people tested, which would be less subject day to day fluctuations in testing, stayed steady at 19.3 percent, while the positive rate for all tests slipped slightly to 5.6 percent — both the lowest reported to date.
The state also reported Thursday that 83,055 Wisconsin residents have completed the COVID-19 vaccination series, about 8,400 more since yesterday. In all, 426,411 vaccine doses have been administered, more than 37,000 since yesterday.
The estimated number of active cases — diagnosed in the past 30 days — fell slightly to just under 20,500, about 3.8 percent of the 538,348 total cases confirmed in Wisconsin.
