Sergio Gonzalez

Join Edgewood College in welcoming scholar and activist, Sergio Gonzalez, for a conversation on immigration titled “Strangers No More: The New Sanctuary Movement.”

Sergio Gonzalez will discuss the Sanctuary movement in the context of the current immigration crisis in the United States on Tuesday, October 10, at 6:30 p.m. in the Washburn Heritage Room.

Gonzalez focuses his research on the development of Latino communities in urban areas in the American Midwest throughout the twentieth century, with an emphasis on religious communities in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He’s especially interested in the ways the movement and reordering of people, faith, and cultural practices have driven the creation of spaces that facilitate intracultural and transnational interaction.
