The Cultural Context of Corporal Punishment Conference: Keeping Kids Safe

The Cultural Context of Corporal Punishment Conference: Keeping Kids Safe will take place Thursday-Friday, Nov. 19-20 at the Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center.

The purpose of this event is to help families reduce their use of corporal punishment and physical abuse through culturally responsive assessment, investigation, and interventions.

Expert faculty will discuss the significant negative impact corporal punishment has on the child’s physical and emotional development. Learners will have the opportunity to examine their personal biases, gain understanding of how these biases influence their daily work, and develop strategies to reduce the impact of bias in their work.

Speakers will be Lisa Aronson Fontes, Ph.D.; Barbara Knox, M.D.; Everett Mitchell, JD; Ismael Ozanne, JD; Stacey Patton, Ph.D.; and Victor Vieth, JD.
