“The Public Health Significance of Racism” will take place Tuesday, April 6, 6:30-8:30 p.m. via Zoom.

Dr. Thomas A. LaVeist, an international expert, will show his new documentary “The Skin You Are In”, speak and take questions. African Americans suffer from health disparities in all of the top diseases. It is critically important to continue the dialogue on the health effects of racism and to explore solutions that can be applied.

The goal of the event is to engage the health workforce in discussion and thinking about equity through the lens of race. While there is extensive data around racism and equity, changing the systems and practices has not been achieved. Our mission is to connect knowledge and action toward eliminating the influence of racism on health and equity.

Register by noon on April 5.

This event is organized by RH3, a collaborative science initiative on Racism and Health that includes members from UWM, City of Milwaukee, and Milwaukee County. This program is funded by the Advancing a Healthier Wisconsin Endowment.
