The Selfless Way: Five Voices I’m Learning From

If you know me, you know I’m usually reading something or listening to a podcast. I also spend time on YouTube, especially when I’m trying to figure out a business question or learn how to use something. One good explanation can help me see what I’ve been missing.

I’m drawn to people who make complicated subjects understandable. Experience matters to me, too. I want to learn from someone who has tried things, made mistakes, and carried the responsibility of making them work.

These five voices have my attention for different reasons. They cover business, money, technology, and leadership, all subjects that affect how I build and how I serve people.

Alex Hormozi

What I appreciate about Alex is how he simplifies business. Whether he’s explaining an offer, how to attract customers, or a business model, he breaks down the reasoning. I can follow the steps and then look at my own work with a clearer eye.

His experience is a big part of the appeal. Alex built and operated businesses before becoming widely known for teaching about them. There’s a difference between explaining an idea and having to make it work with customers, employees, and bills to pay. I value learning from someone who has faced those pressures and can explain what he learned along the way.

Myron Golden

Myron connects his faith and values with his teaching about business and wealth. That matters to me. What we believe ought to influence how we earn money, treat people, and decide what we want to build.

He is also an exceptional communicator. Myron can take you from A to Z without losing you along the way. You understand how one idea connects to the next and why each step matters. As someone who coaches and works with business leaders, I pay attention to that. I want people to leave a conversation with me knowing what they can do next.

Earn Your Leisure

Earn Your Leisure makes financial education easy to consume. The conversations have real talk and real examples, and you can feel the hosts’ passion for their craft. Interviews with entrepreneurs give you a look at the decisions behind the businesses.

Money can be an intimidating subject, especially when people use language that assumes you already understand it. I appreciate being able to follow a conversation, learn something, and come away with better questions.

People deserve opportunities to understand the decisions that affect their money, their families, and their future. Earn Your Leisure gives more people a way into those conversations.

Jeff Su

There are a lot of people talking about AI. I want someone to show me how to use it in my actual work.

That’s what draws me to Jeff Su. His tutorials give you something to follow and try. I can watch a demonstration and consider whether it would help me prepare for a meeting, organize information, or improve a process.

I’m interested in what these tools can help us do well, including whether they can free up time to give people more attention. Using AI still requires judgment. We have to check what it produces and take responsibility for what we put our names on.

Craig Groeschel Craig’s faith framework is part of what draws me to him. I want to learn from people whose beliefs have a practical influence on how they lead.

His leadership podcast addresses subjects such as giving and receiving feedback, having difficult conversations, and developing a team. Those are situations where our values get tested. Listening without becoming defensive takes practice, especially when we’re the person being challenged.

I appreciate the practical focus of his teaching. It gives me something to examine in my own behavior and apply to how I support and develop the people around me.

I don’t have to agree with everything someone says to learn from them. Part of listening is weighing an idea against my experience, my values, and the needs of the people affected by my decisions.

The harder part is doing something with what I learn. Another video can wait if I haven’t tried anything from the last one. I want the time I spend listening to show up in how I work and how I treat people.

If you follow any of these five, I’d love to hear what has been useful to you. Send me your recommendations, too. Who are you learning from, and what have you put into practice?

DM me on Instagram at @Henry_Sanders_Jr or message me on LinkedIn. I’d welcome the conversation.
