GHC_logo_3UW Health, UnityPoint Health and three insurance companies have reached a joint operating agreement that will lead to UW Health working more closely with UnityPoint Health Meriter Hospital in Madison.

The joint operating agreement was announced Monday.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has completed its regulatory review, which clears the way for finalizing the agreement among all five companies.

Nothing will change operationally between the five companies until the Wisconsin Office of the Commissioner of Insurance approves the deal.

The three insurance companies, Physicians Plus Insurance Corp., Unity Health Plans Insurance Corp. (Unity) and Gundersen Health Plan, will also collaborate more closely in the future. Unity and Gundersen announced a new organization last month called Quartz that will oversee both companies.

Final agreements are expected sometime this summer.
