Wisconsin breaks more records: 1,582 new cases, over 20% positive test rate, over 10,000 active cases

Wisconsin confirmed the highest single-day count of new cases Sunday, with 1,582 cases reported in just over 7,700 tests, making the positive test rate a highest-ever 20.45 percent.

Today is the ninth day of the past ten that the positive test rate has been over 10 percent, but the first time over 20 percent.

Wisconsin’s positive test rate for the past seven days has risen to 14.4 percent, and the 14-day rate is up to 12.65 percent. Today’s data brings the seven-day average of new cases to 1,142 and the 14-day average to 1,045.

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services now reports the total number of cases since the pandemic began is 89,185, of which more than 10,200 are considered active, about 700 more than yesterday.

Additionally, one more death was reported today, in Milwaukee County, bringing the total death toll to 1,210.

Wisconsin has averaged six deaths per day over the past week and 6.77 per day over the past two weeks.

The highest local new case count came in Dane County, with 233 new cases and 20.3 percent positive tests.

Columbia County: 15 new cases, 6.15 percent positive tests
Dodge County:  27 new cases, 9.82 percent positive tests
Dunn County: 12 new cases, 13.79 percent positive tests
Eau Claire County: 61 new cases, 16.18 percent positive tests
Fond du Lac County: 42 new cases, 15.97 percent positive tests
Grant County: 38 new cases, 16.1 percent positive tests
Green County: 17 new cases, 14.17 percent positive tests
Jefferson County: 20 new cases, 19.42 percent positive tests
Kenosha County: 14 new cases, 8.92 percent positive tests
La Crosse County: 129 new cases, 98.47 percent positive tests
Manitowoc County: 28 new cases, 100 percent positive tests
Marathon County: 30 new cases, 85.71 percent positive tests
Milwaukee County: 114 new cases, 10.84 percent positive tests
Outagamie County: 72 new cases,  52.17 percent positive tests
Ozaukee County: 26 new cases, 15.76 percent positive tests
Portage County: 50 new cases, 100 percent positive tests
Racine County: 16 new cases, 21.62 percent positive tests
Rock County: 31 new cases, 31.63 percent positive tests
Sauk County: 15 new cases, 11.45 percent positive tests
Shawano County: 13 new cases, 13.83 percent positive tests
Walworth County: 35 new cases, 42.68 percent positive tests
Washington County: 52 new cases, 98.11 percent positive tests
Waukesha County: 62 new cases, 24.41 percent positive tests
Winnebago County: 70 new cases, 19.23 percent positive tests
Wood County: 12 new cases, 12.37 percent positive tests

Yesterday, hospitalizations fell to 319 hospitalized with COVID 19, seven fewer than Friday but 44 more than a week ago. Of those, 94 were in ICUs, three fewer than Friday.
