Wisconsin confirms 1,369 new cases, positive test rate remains high at 13.75%

Wisconsin confirmed the second-highest single-day count of new cases Friday, with 1,369 cases reported in just under 10,000 tests, making the positive test rate 13.75 percent.

Yesterday, the state set records in both the number of new cases — 1,547 — and positive test rate — 17.53 percent.

Today is the seventh day of the past eight that the positive test rate has been over 10 percent.

Wisconsin’s positive test rate for the past seven days has risen to 14 percent, and the 14-day rate is up to 11.5 percent. Today’s data brings the seven-day average of new cases to 985 and the 14-day average to 881.

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services now reports the total number of cases since the pandemic began is 86,250, of which just over 8,800 are considered active, about 700 more than yesterday.

Additionally, four more deaths were reported today — one each in Dodge, Milwaukee, Vilas and Washburn Counties — bringing the total death toll to 1,197.

Wisconsin has averaged 6.29 deaths per day over the past week and six per day over the past two weeks.

 

The highest local new case count came in Dane County, with 283 new cases. Additionally, even with Dane County removed from the data, the other 71 counties reported 1,086 new cases and a 11.5% positive test rate.

Calumet County: 11 new cases, 14.47 percent positive tests
Clark County: 13 new cases, 23.21 percent positive tests
Dodge County:  22 new cases, 27.16 percent positive tests
Eau Claire County: 38 new cases, 17.59 percent positive tests
Fond du Lac County: 40 new cases, 14.98 percent positive tests
Forest County: 10 new cases, 47.62 percent positive tests
Grant County: 18 new cases, 27.27 percent positive tests
Green County: 10 new cases, 12.3 percent positive tests
Kenosha County: 12 new cases, 3.8 percent positive tests
La Crosse County: 78 new cases, 26.35 percent positive tests
Manitowoc County: 20 new cases, 90.91 percent positive tests
Marathon County: 12 new cases, 11.76 percent positive tests
Milwaukee County: 124 new cases, 6.17 percent positive tests
Oconto County: 15 new cases, 29.48 percent positive tests
Outagamie County: 89 new cases,  25.28 percent positive tests
Portage County: 22 new cases, 110 percent positive tests
Racine County: 13 new cases, 3.75 percent positive tests
Rock County: 33 new cases, 18.97 percent positive tests
Sheboygan County: 11 new cases, 7.59 percent positive tests
Walworth County: 37 new cases, 17.87 percent positive tests
Washington County: 36 new cases, 7.69 percent positive tests
Waukesha County: 70 new cases, 9.765 percent positive tests
Winnebago County: 83 new cases, 17.51 percent positive tests
Wood County: 14 new cases, 12.28 percent positive tests

Hospitalization data had not been updated at the time of publication. Yesterday, hospitalizations rose slightly to 304 hospitalized with COVID 19, two more than Wednesday and 11 more than a week ago. Of those, 93 were in ICUs, seven more that Wednesday.
