For the first time, Wisconsin has confirmed more than 2,000 new coronavirus cases in a single day.

Wisconsin’s positive test rate jumped to 17.7 percent Thursday, rising from 11.5 percent Wednesday as about 11,400 tests yielded 2,034 positive results. Those results bring the total case count to 94,746, of which just over 10,800 are considered active, about 300 more than yesterday.

Today is the 13th day of the past 14 that the positive test rate has been over 10 percent.

Wisconsin’s positive test rate for the past seven days is now 15.12 percent, and the 14-day rate is up to 14.53 percent. Today’s data brings the seven-day average of new cases to 1,409 and the 14-day average to 1,184.

Four new fatalities were reported today — one each in Milwaukee, Outagamie, Shawano and Sheboygan Counties. A previously reported fatality in Menominee County was removed from the data, so the total death toll today rises by three to 1,231.
