The Wisconsin Historical Society will be hosting an evening of special performances and a listening session on the new state history museum during the Black History Month Celebration at the Society Headquarters on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 5-9 p.m.

Doors open at 5 p.m. and from 5-6 p.m. guests can meet Society staff and see a STEP Exhibition. Starting at 6 p.m. guests will participate in the Share Your Voice listening session in the auditorium about the new museum project. During this session, attendees will hear from Christian Overland, Ruth and Hartley Barker Director of the Wisconsin Historical Society and Cybelle Jones, principal and executive director for Gallagher & Associates. Following a brief presentation, guests will participate in two discussions where they will have an opportunity to share feedback on current design concepts and share their thoughts on how a state history museum can serve the community.

From 7-9 p.m., museum objects and archival material related to African American History from the Society’s collection will be displayed in the reading room on the second floor. There will also be special presentations from spoken word, a church choir, a second STEP Performance and soul food from Melly Mel’s.
