The state of Wisconsin reported 62 COVID deaths on Wednesday, following the record-setting 107 reported yesterday. Two previously reported deaths were removed from the data so the total death toll in the state went up by 60 to now 3,562. An additional 75 people have tested positive for COVID but died of other causes. The seven-day daily death average is now 46.0 and the 14-day average is 49.0.
Twenty-five counties reported at least one fatality. Milwaukee County reported the most with 11, followed by Brown and Marathon Counties, which each reported five.
Meanwhile the state reported 4,618 new coronavirus cases, on just under 12,000 tests, for a daily positive test rate of about 38.6 percent.
The seven-day positive rate for all people tested jumped from 31 percent to 31.7, and the positive rate for all tests is now 13.7. The number of active cases remains just under 65,000 — about 16.1 percent of the 399,695 total cases the state has confirmed to date.
The seven-day average of new cases per day increased to 3,979.
The number of people hospitalized dropped again to 1,754, 26 lower than yesterday and 85 fewer than a week ago. Of those, 376 are in ICUs, 21 fewer than yesterday.
