Wisconsin confirmed 946 new coronavirus cases and 15 more deaths on Saturday.

The Department of Health Services (DHS) said Friday’s record 1,458 cases was attributable to a backlog of data processing earlier in the week.

DHS now reports the total number of cases since the pandemic began is 80,300. The rate of coronavirus tests returning positive fell to 11.8 percent today, down from yesterday’s 12.8 percent. Of the 80,300 cases, over 7,900 are considered active, about the same as yesterday.

Additionally, 15 reported deaths today brought the state’s total to 1,168 and were spread throughout the state. Six deaths were reported in Milwaukee County, two in Fond du Lac County, and one each in Dodge, Marinette, Oconto, Oneida, Rock, Waukesha and Waupaca Counties. It is the first reported fatality in Oneida County. Eighteen people who tested positive for coronavirus infection have died of other causes, and are not counted as covid fatalities.

Today’s data brings the seven-day average of new cases to 786 and the 14-day average to 757. Over the past seven days, the percentage of positive tests has averaged 9.0 percent, and 8.5 over the past 14 days.
