Defensive tackle A.J. Francis signed an NFL contract with the New York Giants today after being released by his former team, the Washington Redskins, on Monday.
Despite growing up in the Washington area and attending nearby Maryland, Francis celebrated the signing of a new contract today with NFC East rival Giants with an Instagram post that got straight to the point.
“When the team you were on didn’t appreciate you but the team you played against actually pays attention to the film,” he wrote, followed by a string of hashtags, including the dates of the upcoming season’s two games between Washington and New York and #AndYourLogoIsRacist.
Francis was one of three defensive tackles released by the Redskins on Monday after they selected defensive tackles in the first and fifth rounds in the draft. Francis appeared in only six games for Washington over two seasons, recording 18 total tackles.
