YWCA Madison Names 2016 Women of Distinction

YWCA Madison has announced its 2016 Women of Distinction Leadership Award recipients. A committee of YWCA volunteers selected these leaders from among many distinguished nominees. Awards will be presented during the 2016 Moxie Conference on May 26 at Madison Marriott West.

Every year, YWCA Madison presents the Women of Distinction Leadership Awards to women who represent outstanding achievement in their field of endeavor. YWCA Madison is on a mission to eliminate racism and empower women through programs in three areas: race & gender equity, job training & transportation, and housing & shelter.

The 2016 award recipients:

· Stephanie Nash, family life and sexual education teacher at The Children’s Aid Society, Carrera Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Program
· Corinda Rainey-Moore, community outreach and engagement coordinator at Wisconsin Council on Children and Families
· Gina Carter, partner at the law firm Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek

Sherry Lucille
· Deidre Green, managing editor at Simpson Street Free Press
· Mary Strickland, certified financial planner and vice president at Robert W. Baird and Co.
· Sherry Lucille, guidance counselor at Madison Memorial High School

YWCA Madison presents the Women of Distinction Leadership Awards to women who have strongly impacted their community. Women of Distinction’s achievements support YWCA’s work to close the gender leadership gap and support equity for all. Since the awards began in 1974, YWCA Madison has honored over 200 role models in our community.
