Marquette Poll: Clinton Leads Trump by 7 Percent in Wisconsin

Walker approval rating drops in latest poll

In the first Marquette poll conducted since the candidates became their party’s presumptive presidential nominees, Hillary Clinton leads with 42 percent to Trump’s 35 percent . Among likely voters, Clinton led 46 percent to 37 percent.

In March, the last poll done by the school, they found Clinton at 47 percent and Trump at 37 percent. That poll was taken right before the Wisconsin primary.

Even though Wisconsin hasn’t voted for a Republican for president since Ronald Reagan in 1984, the state is expected to be a key electoral battleground in the fall.

In the race for U.S. Senate, Democrat Russ Feingold leads Republican U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson, 45 percent to 41 percent among registered voters. Among likely voters, Feingold’s lead was 51 percent to 42 percent.

Gov. Scott Walker’s job approval was at 39 percent, with 57 percent disapproving his performance. In March, Walker had 43 percent job approval, with 53 percent disapproval.

The latest poll included 800 registered voters of which 666 of them were considered “likely voters.” The poll was conducted June 9-12.
