Madison Nonprofit Day returns Friday, Sept. 11, at TruStage, bringing nonprofit professionals, funders, board members and community partners together for a day focused on leadership, workforce and sustainability challenges facing the sector.
Madison Nonprofit Day is an annual professional-development and networking event designed to strengthen nonprofit organizations and the people who lead, work for and support them. This year’s theme, “Now What?”, focuses on moving beyond planning and training to implementation, collaboration and long-term sustainability.
The conference comes as nonprofits navigate funding reductions, workforce challenges and leadership transitions, according to a press release from conference organizers, and sessions will address succession planning, organizational continuity and developing the next generation of nonprofit leaders, as well as ways organizations can share resources and collaborate rather than duplicate costs.
“We have seen how quickly an organization can be faced with a leadership transition or a major change in resources,” said Prenicia Clifton, founder of Madison Nonprofit Day, in a press release. “Sustainability means more than raising money. It means developing people, sharing knowledge, building strong systems, identifying partners and making sure the mission can continue even when circumstances change.”
Other sessions at Madison Nonprofit Day will cover fiscal agency and sponsorship, volunteer workforce development, professional development, donor engagement and organizational infrastructure.
The conference will feature keynote presentations, workshops, networking opportunities, breakfast, lunch and a closing happy hour from 4 to 6 p.m. It is designed for nonprofit staff and leaders, board members, volunteers, funders, consultants and others who work with the nonprofit sector.
A limited number of registered organizations will also have the opportunity to participate in the inaugural Madison Nonprofit Day Podcast, produced and hosted by Dane County podcaster Dee Star.
