Afro’d Futures by Ashley Robertson will be held Thursday, March 23, 6-8 p.m. at Cafe Zoma, 2326 Atwood Ave.
“I had a vision of the future of human evolution. In this future, our relationship with self was so intimate that thoughts and intentions took physical form. Our ability to interact with this realm was as effortless as box wine. My art aims to inch us closer to that future,” says Robertson of Afro’d Futures.
“In Afro’d Futures, I use Afrocentric portraiture and monochromatic color schemes to challenge the concept of monolithic culture and celebrate bold self-exploration and expression. These works are heavily influenced by Afrofuturism and comic art, sprinkled with a hint of playful fantasy to encourage re-imagination of both present and future,” she adds.
