Madison Alder Sheri Carter easily survived a challenge from South Side native Jose Eladio Rea, garnering 78 percent of the vote in District 14.

Alder Barbara Harrington McKinney had a slightly tighter race but also held her seat relatively easily with 60 percent of the vote over challenger David Handowski.

“I appreciate the opportunity to work together with the district to complete the work that we’ve begun,” said McKinney. “We’re going to build some bridges. I’m really excited. There’s a lot left undone. Having an opponent made me a better leader, a more conscientious leader. Understanding that there are some bridges that still need to be built, and work to be done, but we can do it together.”
