US Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-Wisconsin) is the seventh most powerful LGBTQ person in the nation, according to Out Magazine’s 11th annual “Power 50” list.
“Like so many of us (and like so many politicians), Baldwin has found a renewed vigor in the name of resistance while living and working under a Trump presidency,” the magazine’s editors wrote. “This past year, after criticizing Ivanka Trump’s inactivity as a moderating voice in the White House, Baldwin penned a letter to the president regarding his planned Medicaid cuts and its harsh effects on veterans. The Wisconsin native also co-sponsored a bill calling for Veterans Affairs reform.”
wBaldwin has made the list every year, ranking as high as number 4 in 2014 and 2015 but slipping to 11 last year.
Topping this year’s list is MSNBC host Rachel Maddow.
