Beyond Assimilation: Jihan Bekiri to host discussion on the immigrant experience

WPS vice president of diversity, equity and inclusion Jihan Bekiri will moderate a panel discussion titled “Beyond Assimilation: An Affinity Panel of Immigrants in Wisconsin,” on Friday, October 22, the final day of the Wisconsin Leadership Summit.

Jihan began her role at WPS in January. She arrived at WPS after focusing on diversity, equity, and inclusion at American Family Insurance and the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction in Madison. She graduated with honors from Marquette University with a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs, followed by earning a Master of Science in International Development from the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom with distinction. Bekiri is also a certified diversity executive and practitioner from the Institute for Diversity Certification.

The Wisconsin Leadership Summit will last five days and feature 25 panels on a range of issues, such as workplace diversity, education, health care, social justice and more. Registration is $49, with discount rates for nonprofit and government employees and students.
