The Big Ten announced today that the conference’s 2020 fall college football season has been canceled due to concerns regarding the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and that the league will attempt to play in the spring, per Yahoo Sports’ Pete Thamel.

The Big Ten’s university presidents met on Saturday and discussed the viability of the 2020 season and the possibility of its move to the spring. Tuesday’s announcement made the Big Ten the first Power 5 league to cancel its 2020 football season.

Last week, the conference released its revised 10-game conference schedule, where Wisconsin was set to open its season against Indiana at Camp Randall on Friday, Sept. 4.

The Badgers were scheduled to open fall camp on Monday.
