Former boxing champion Floyd Mayweather will pay for the funeral and memorial services for George Floyd, according to a Mayweather representative.

“He’ll probably get mad at me for saying that, but yes, [Mayweather] is definitely paying for the funeral,” Leonard Ellerbe, the CEO of Mayweather Promotions, told ESPN on Monday.

Floyd died after former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin kneeled on his neck for nearly nine minutes.

Mayweather will handle costs for the funeral on June 9 in Floyd’s hometown of Houston, as well as ceremonies in Minnesota and Charlotte, North Carolina.
