Brew City Legends FC defeated the Youngstown Nighthawks at the Uihlein Soccer Park Complex 7-to-5 on Saturday to extend their winning streak to four games.

The win moved the Legends into second place in the Premier Arena Soccer League (PASL) Great Lakes Division after winning 8-to-2 in an away game against Detroit Waza Flo. The Brew City Legends are only behind the Cincinnati Swerve, which the team beat at home on Janunary 12.

“I think the team chemistry is way up,” Forward Max Klundert said after the game.

Klundert, originally from Kasson, Minnesota, said the team dynamics have strengthened since the beginning of the season. This includes their communication on the field which helped them in their match against the Nighthawks.

“They had a couple of good players. Some of them were really technical. Some of them were not ready,” Klundert said.

Their match against the Youngstown Nighthawks got off to a great start. The first quarter ended with Brew City Legends FC ahead 201, with Quijas Alexiz scoring with just 15 seconds left in the frame.

This intensity continued into the second quarter. Brew City Legend’s Julio Delcid scored in the first minute. The score was 4-to-3 around halftime placing the team in a good position for the third quarter.

“I think we’re in a good spot for the finals,” Juan Gomez said.

In addition to winning the game, he also received some special news during a halftime gender reveal. Gomez and his wife found out the two of them will welcome a baby boy into their family soon.

“I’m happy we got the win and a baby is always a blessing,” he said.

In the second half, the Youngtown Nighthawks only managed to pull within two goals throughout the entire game. However, the Nighthawks just could not keep up with players like Almicar Herrera and Abdikadir Muktar, let alone score with Mike Nowak as the Legend’s goalkeeper.

“Fellas, I’m proud of you. Way to get that “W” for the home crowd,” owner and coach Denzel Pettigrew told the team afterward.

Brew City Legends FC played well on Saturday to remain unbeaten at home. The Legends will face the Great Lakes Wanderers at Cedar Rock Sports Complex this Saturday, and again at the Uihlein Soccer Park at 7 pm on March 2 for their final home game.
