After two years of primarily virtual festivities, La Movida 24/7 Spanish radio will be helping to raise money for the Catholic Multicultural Center (CMC) at its annual Radiothon fundraiser and community celebration on Friday, Dec. 9.
The Radiothon raises funds for the non-profit on Madison’s south side that serves the community with free daily community meals, English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, food and personal hygiene pantries, employment search assistance, and more.
“We greatly anticipate this year’s Radiothon welcoming back all of our CMC supporters and friends to a lively and energetic celebration of community,” said CMC Director Steve Maurice in a statement.
The theme for this year’s radiothon is ‘Celebrating Hope Together.’
“The Catholic Multicultural Center enkindles hope in the lives of the people it serves by helping them meet their needs and achieve their goals. We want to celebrate with everyone the hope that God blesses us all with and share that hope with others,” Maurice said.
La Movida Radio will broadcast live from the Catholic Multicultural lobby sharing stories and encouraging people to stop by or call to offer their financial support. A celebration open to the public will take place at the same time, starting with a Guadalupe mass at 1 p.m. celebrated by Bishop Donald Hying. Food and entertainment will follow throughout the rest of the day, including marimba music by Eric de Los Santos, Mexican and Aztec dances by Ballet Folklórico de Carlos y Sonia Avila, and performances by other musicians.
