Centro Hispano’s annual “Evening of Dreaming” event will take place Saturday, Sept. 9, 2-5 p.m., in the main plaza area of Centro Hispano, 810 West Badger Road.
Centro Hispano is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering and uplifting Latinx individuals and families on Madison’s South Side. Through a variety of programs and events, Centro Hispano aims to promote cultural understanding, celebrate diversity, and create a sense of unity within the community.
The goal of “Evening of Dreaming” is to showcase “the diversity of Latinx cultures in surprising, thought-provoking and whimsical ways at the heart of Centro Hispano’s main plaza,” according to a press release from Centro Hispano, and the event’s highlights will include music, sounds, reflection, mindful movement/yoga for adults and kids, and food.
“The Evening of Dreaming will center the holistic mission of Centro. We are inviting children, parents, and families, our strengths as a community, and our neighborhood, and to join us and special guest Tía Leah’s Neighborhood, a multi-media, dynamic and interactive experience – inspiring curiosity with every song,” Centro Hispano said in a press release on Wednesday. “Seek serenity and find your center with a tranquil yoga session led by People’s Yoga, out of Los Angeles, California, meant to help us reimagine wellness for the Latinx community and help us move through change with loving and sustainable rituals for a strong body, mind and corazón (heart).”
This will, in all likelihood, be the last “Evening of Dreaming” event at Centro Hispano’s home on Badger Road as the organization is currently constructing a new two-story, 25,000-square-foot home at the corner of Hughes Place and Cypress Way.
