The Dane County Department of Human Services wants to do business with service providers that are representative of our diverse community.

The Department will be releasing Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for almost 20 programs the week of March 21. The RFPs will be listed here that week. This is part of an annual procurement process that invites qualified persons or agencies to submit proposals to provide a number of important services in the county.

The Department of Human Services administers a variety of programs, in partnership with service providers, in the areas of Adult Community Services; Economic Assistance and Work Services; Children, Youth, and Families; Housing Access & Affordability; Prevention & Early Intervention; and Badger Prairie Health Care Center.

“Dane County Department of Human Services is extremely proud of its provider network which delivers high quality services to residents throughout the county,” said Director Shawn Tessmann. “We look forward to our yearly RFP process which gives us an opportunity to learn about new organizations to partner with as well as new and emerging strategies from existing providers and new partners.”

Katie O’Brien, grants manager at the Department of Human Services, said it’s important that a diverse array of businesses and nonprofits take a shot at these contracts. For agencies that haven’t done business with the county before, a first step is to make sure your organization is on the email list, so you can know when the county is looking for bids and proposals. You can do that at this website.

“We want to make sure that the vendors that we work with reflect the population that we serve,” O’Brien said. “And I think that we are trying to intentionally move more toward that through our RFP process, through other contracting processes and diversifying our vendor pool is just so important. Make sure that everybody in the county is represented, and represented in how we serve them.”

O’Brien said that even if there’s no contract you want to bid on this year, the county wants to register your organization so you can be aware of future RFP opportunities that happen annually every spring, as well as throughout the year.

O’Brien said the county is working on making the bid process easier and more streamlined. This year applicants will submit their proposals via an online form which will make the submission process easier.
