Enrollment is open for a new Introduction to Pharmacy Technician Academy being provided by Urban League of Greater Madison in conjunction with SSM Health.
People who are interested can apply at ULGM.org/career/academies or contact Laura Hiebing at 608-729-1209.
The Urban League has been committed to the goal of providing more than 1,500 jobs to 1,500 families and has historically partnered with SSM Health to provide training for people to enter the health industry.
This is the first year they are offering an academy for Pharmacy Techs and comes at the perfect time. The need for Pharmacy Technicians is expected to increase by 12 percent over the next few years.
“This is in partnership with SSM Health for entry level pharmacy tech roles,” ULGM’s Laura Hiebing told Madison365. “We’re looking for people with basic customer service, time management, math and computer skills. Urban League also supports people during training with editing their resume, interview feedback, behavioral questions interviewers are asking, how to apply for jobs as part of the program. This is a need SSM has for hiring.”
Hiebing says that over the last several years, Urban League and SSM Health have been partnering through a Health Administration Training program that has produced an average of about 18 graduates per session.
The Pharmacy Tech program will run from April 1-April 25, Monday through Thursday. The deadline to apply for the program is March 11.
