Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers will lead a Wisconsin trade delegation to Ghana and South Africa later this month, according to a press release.
The trip, organized with the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation, marks the governor’s fourth international trade mission since taking office in 2018 and aims to strengthen commercial ties in agriculture, manufacturing, and healthcare sectors.
Planned stops include Niche Cocoa Industry Ltd., Ghana’s largest cocoa processor, which operates a U.S. manufacturing plant in Franklin, Wisconsin — a project the governor’s office describes as the largest African direct investment in the American food and beverage sector. In South Africa, the delegation will meet with Wisconsin companies and government officials to discuss exports of machinery, medical devices, and agricultural goods, the release states.
State officials cited Africa’s rapidly growing population and expanding consumer markets as key reasons for deepening trade relationships there. Evers previously led missions to Japan, the Benelux countries, and Germany/France during his tenure, per the release.
