The Irwin A. and Robert D. Goodman Pool Goodman Pool will be officially open for the summer today, and thanks to Goodman’s Jewelers, the first 500 kids will receive free admission to the pool beginning at noon.
“Goodman’s Jewelers is proud to continue this tradition celebrating the goodwill and generosity of Irwin and Bob Goodman,” said John Hayes, owner of Goodman’s Jewelers, in a press release today.
Irwin and Robert Goodman were long-time supporters of many organizations in Madison, including Madison Parks. Their donation of $2.8 million for the construction of the pool was just the incentive needed for a pool to be built in Madison. The pool, which officially opened in 2006, continues to provide hundreds of children, regardless of income level, swimming lessons and other programs thanks to the Goodman Foundation and its support of the scholarship program.
The Goodman Pool, located at 325 W. Olin Ave, offers recreation swim, lap swim, lessons and the Waves Swim and Dive Team program. The pool is open daily, weather permitting through Monday, September 3.
