Forward Madison FC has signed 23-year-old Aiden Mesias, pending league and federation approval, the club announced in a press release Wednesday. The 5-foot-8 midfielder is from London, England, and spent the 2022 season playing with SSV Ulm 1846 Fussball in Germany.
Mesias will “bring international experience to us, and he’s a great box-to-box player,” head coach Matt Glaeser said in a statement. “We’re excited to be able to utilize Mesias in many different roles in the midfield.”
Mesias began playing soccer at the age of 9, when he played for Charlton Athletic for three seasons. In 2012, at the age of 13, the midfielder began playing for Queens Park Rangers youth program, where he stayed until 2019. Following his stint with QPR, Mesias’ professional career kicked off when he signed with Hartford Athletic in the USL Championship. In one season with Hartford, Mesias appeared in 13 games while he helped his squad earn a playoff berth. Following in his father’s footsteps, in the 2022 season Mesias joined SSV Ulm 1846 Fussball, a fourth division German squad.
“I want what everyone else wants to accomplish in The Flamingo Community: win the playoffs,” Mesias said. “It’ll be tough but I can speak on behalf of the team that we will work hard to try to make this happen.”
