Forward Madison defeated Orlando City B 3-1 at Hart Park on Sunday after waiting through a 98-minute lightning delay during the second half.

The Flamingos scored first on a header by Eli Lockaby, making his first start at left back, to the back post off a Michael Vang corner kick in the 19th minute, sustaining a gash above his right eye in the process.

“I got a nice battle scar. It’s always good to get on the scoresheet, but to help the team win three points in my first start is always good,” Lockaby said after the game.

Orlando tied the game on a mistake from FMFC as Mason Lamb scored from his own header on a cross from Michael Halliday in the 37th minute.

The game was delayed in the 77th minute due to a storm in the area, and wouldn’t re-start for nearly two hours.

Second-half goals from Paulo Junior and Brandon Eaton gave FMFC the much-needed victory. With the win, Forward Madison jumps to third place on eight points, just two behind Richmond Kickers for the final playoff place and ahead of both Union Omaha and South Georgia Tormenta on goal differential.
