Free Bikes 4 Kidz Madison, a local, non-profit organization on a mission to provide bikes to all individuals in Dane County who wouldn’t otherwise have access to them, will host its annual Fall Bike Donation Drive on Saturday, Sept. 30, 9 a.m.-2 p.m.

The organization hopes to collect 400 bikes of all styles and sizes. Community members are encouraged to bring gently used bikes to the Free Bikes 4 Kidz Madison bike shop at 354 Coyier Lane, located near Rimrock Rd. and the Beltline Highway. The organization, however, cannot accept used helmets.

“Our dedicated team, along with numerous volunteers, will spend the winter refurbishing these bikes, ensuring they’re in top condition for their future owners,” Free Bikes 4 Kidsz Madison said in a press release announcing the Fall Bike Donation Drive. “In the spring, we’ll distribute them to marginalized communities through our robust network of school social workers and other nonprofit organizations.

“Every contribution, whether a bike, a financial donation, our volunteering your time helps us continue our work of spreading happiness and promoting healthy living through cycling,” they added.
