Herd Snaps Skid with Triple Overtime Win

The Wisconsin Herd came out on top, 119-118 in a triple-overtime thriller against the Maine Red Claws on Saturday night at Menominee Nation Arena. The victory ended an 11-game slide for Wisconsin.

Two-way player Jaylen Morris hit the game winner with 1.9 seconds left in the final frame. He finished with 18 points, four rebounds and three assists in the contest.

Center Christian Wood, on assignment from the Milwaukee Bucks, posted another double-double performance with 34 points and 18 rebounds, both game-high totals. His highlight performance included two clutch shots: a layup with 14.8 seconds left in regulation to send the game into overtime and a three pointer to tie the game at 115 with 3.4 seconds remaining in the second overtime.

Guard Travis Trice also stood out for the Herd with a triple-double with 14 points, 13 rebounds, 10 assists and five steals. His biggest play of the game came in the first overtime, when he hit a deep three with 7.8 seconds left to tie the game at 110.

The Herd won the turnover battle 24-10 and also tallied 14 steals compared to the Red Claws’ three. 

Maine’s top performer was guard P.J. Dozier, who scored 34 points to go with six rebounds and eight assists.

The Red Claws other noteworthy performers included Vitto Brown (22 points, 11 rebounds), Nick King (18 points, 13 rebounds) and John Bohannon (14 points, 10 rebounds). 

The Herd take the floor again at Greensboro on Dec. 12. The Red Claws will play their next game on Dec. 16 against the Long Island Nets.
