Jada Dayne is a finalist for the Wendy’s High School Heisman Award.

WAUNAKEE, Wis. Sixteen years ago, Ron Dayne won a Heisman Trophy as a running back with the Wisconsin Badgers.

Jada Dayne is one of five finalists headed to New York for the Wendy’s High School Heisman Award Saturday, December 12.

Two national winners-one male, one female will be chosen and each will receive an engraved Wendy’s High School Heisman trophy; $5,000 donation to their respective high schools; $500 gift card for use at Wendy’s restaurants; and recognition during the collegiate Heisman announcement in New York City.

Finalists are chosen not only for their athletic accomplishments but for their leadership in the community as well.

“It’s completely different than being recognized for sports,” Jada Dayne said. “That’s like ‘my team, me and my team accomplished this’ so that’s different.”

“Words can’t explain it,” said Ron Dayne. “I’m just happy that she’s able to do everything she wants to do — able to go to school, play sports, have great grades and just be a great person.”
