Just over 1,200 new cases confirmed; positive test rate nearly 19% as Florence County reports first death

Wisconsin confirmed 1,271 new coronavirus cases Monday on just under 6,800 tests, for a positive test rate of 18.7 percent. Those results bring the total case count to 102,498, of which just over 14,400 are considered active, about 300 more than Saturday.

Today is the 17th day of the past 18 that the positive test rate has been over 10 percent.

Wisconsin’s positive test rate for the past seven days is now 17.05 percent, and the 14-day rate is up to 16.1 percent. Today’s data brings the seven-day average of new cases to 1,792 and the 14-day average to 1,540.

Two new fatalitie were reported today — the first-ever death in Florence County and the fourth in Adams County– bringing the total death toll to 1,244.

Wisconsin has averaged 4.86 deaths per day over the past week and 5,85 per day over the past two weeks.

For the first time, the highest local new case count came in Winnebago County, with 129 new cases and 77 percent positive tests.

Eau Claire County: 31 new cases, 96.88 percent positive tests
Fond du Lac County: 72 new cases, 23 percent positive tests
Grant County: 10 new cases, 2.36 percent positive tests
Jefferson County: 15 new cases, 16.48 percent positive tests
Kenosha County: 18 new cases, 10.65 percent positive tests
La Crosse County: 54 new cases, 43.2 percent positive tests
Manitowoc County: 21 new cases, 91.3 percent positive tests
Marathon County: 27 new cases, 79.41 percent positive tests
Marinette County: 18 new cases, 33.33 percent positive tests
Milwaukee County: 113 new cases, 33.93 percent positive tests
Oconto County: 23 new cases, 100 percent positive tests
Outagamie County: 57 new cases, 29.69 percent positive tests
Portage County: 49 new cases, 92.45 percent positive tests
Racine County: 87 new cases, 96.67 percent positive tests
Rock County: 37 new cases, 11.46 percent positive tests
Shawano County: 14 new cases, 82.35 percent positive tests
Sheboygan County: 11 new cases, 6.4 percent positive tests
St Croix County: 23 new cases, 16.79 percent positive tests
Walworth County: 30 new cases, 100 percent positive tests
Waukesha County: 59 new cases, 14.57 percent positive tests
Waupaca County: 12 new cases,  63.16 percent positive tests
Wood County: 13 new cases, 14.94 percent positive tests

The number hospitalized with COVID-19 on Saturday jumped to 433, the most since 443 were hospitalized on April 14. The highest level of hospitalization to date was on April 9, with 446 hospitalized. Today’s total is 26 more than Sunday and 92 more than a week ago. Of those, 131 were in ICUs, 20 more than Sunday.
