The nonprofit social justice/social service agency JustDane (founded as Madison-area Urban Ministry) is reviving its annual Jazz for Justice event this year at Cafe CODA on Madison’s East Side on Thursday, May 8, 6-10 p.m.

Jazz for Justice will be a night of amazing music celebrating another year of the impact of JustDane in the Dane County community and will feature the bands of Hanah Jon Taylor, a distinguished jazz saxophonist and flutist who owns Cafe CODA, and Dee Alexander, the host of Sunday Jazz.

A highlight of the night will be the presentation of Just Dane’s Visionary Award to philanthropists Corkey and Betty Custer in recognition of their lifelong investment in Dane County’s nonprofit community through service, advocacy and philanthropy.

JustDane, which celebrated its 50th-anniversary last year, advocates for and provides resources to underserved populations, transforming individual lives to create a just and equitable community. JustDane’s many programs inspire hope for individuals returning to the Dane County community after incarceration by breaking down the barriers that prevent them from fully participating in the community and the lives of their families.

Doors open for JustDane’s Jazz for Justice event on May 8 at 5:30 p.m. and the event will begin at 6 p.m. with live jazz and hors d’oeuvres at Cafe CODA. Tickets can be purchased on Eventbrite by clicking here. Cafe CODA is located at 1224 Williamson St.
