Badger Rock Neighborhood Center, 501 E. Badger Rd., will host Kwanzaa 2018 at Badger Rock Thursday, Dec. 27, 2-4 p.m.
The principle for this day is KUJICHAGULIA: Self Determination; to define ourselves, name ourselves, create for ourselves and speak for ourselves.
In that spirit, we will hold an open mic, where you can read your own poems, stories, etc. We encourage graduates of the UW Odyssey Project to participate and celebrate and share your stories.
Dinner will be free and prepared by Kipp’s Kitchen.
Former Madison Poet Laureate Fabu will open the ceremony. We would like for community members to take part in the ceremony in the spirit of Kujichagulia.
