The injury-depleted Los Angeles Lakers have signed former Badger Nigel Hayes to a ten-day contract, according to multiple media reports.
Hayes, who went undrafted and signed with the New York Knicks following his senior season, has been playing with the Knicks’ G-league affiliate in Westchester, New York. He has started 27 of 30 games and is averaging 14.9 points and 6.6 rebounds per game while shooting 45.8 percent from the field, including 44 percent from three-point range.
The Lakers are without starting point guards Lonzo Ball, who has a sprained knee, and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, who strained his right Achilles in a loss at Oklahoma City Wednesday night. The Lakers’ two leading scorers, forwards Brandon Ingram and Kyle Kuzma, are questionable to play tonight against the Pacers.
