Lizzo has been named TIME Magazine’s 2019 “Entertainer of the Year,” the magazine announced on Wednesday.

Lizzo, 31, is a rapper, singer, actor, flautist, and songwriter. She was born in Houston, Texas, and moved to Minneapolis in 2011 where she quickly became a fixture in the hip-hop and R&B scene.  Her debut album, Lizzobangers, was released in 2013.

Lizzo is the most-nominated artist for the 2020 Grammy Awards, leading with eight nominations including best album, record of the year, and song of the year. She also has nominations for best new artist, song and album at this year’s Teen Choice Awards, MTV Video Music Awards, People’s Choice Awards, BET Hip Hop Awards and American Music Awards.

Lizzo made a stop at The Sylvee to perform in Madison this past October as part of her fall North American “Cuz I Love You Too” tour.
