Madison College will host its annual Spring Powwow on Saturday, April 25, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Redsten Gym on the Truax Campus, 1701 Wright St. The event is free and open to the public.

This year’s powwow, themed “Celebrating Woodland Song & Dance,” will feature singers and dancers from tribal nations across Wisconsin. Grand entries are scheduled for 1 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Co-host drums are Medicine Rock and Bad River, with invited drums Little Priest, Little Soldier, Red Nation Boyz and Twin Tails. Dance competitions will include all men’s dance, all women’s dance, appliqué special, singer championship and bells only.

More than 20 vendors will be on site, with food available for purchase starting at 11 a.m. Proceeds from food sales benefit the Native American Student Association. Dinner will be catered by Wild Bearies, a nonprofit founded by Madison College alum Elena Terry that focuses on Native foods and traditional foodways.

The powwow is hosted by Madison College’s Native American Student Association in collaboration with the college’s Intercultural Exchange and Division of Organizational Impact and Culture.
